Vinyl: wide range & atmosphere
Not sure which floor suits you best? Let us inspire you with the different possibilities in our shop.
Vinyl
Vinyl is the soft and comfortable alternative to PVC. Many people will still refer to these floors as "Sail". However, the bad image these floors have acquired under the name "sail" is far behind us. Not only the designs and wide choice of colours, but also the composition of the product is completely different from before. Even in this product group, manufacturers and suppliers comply with high European standards and requirements. Vinyl is simply a beautiful, quiet synthetic floor available in many different colours and designs, such as wood, concrete and stone look.
Benefits and brand names
A major manufacturer of vinyl "Forbo" has given this product the name "Novilon". Not surprisingly, the overall vinyl product group is often referred to as Novilon. We offer vinyl flooring from different manufacturers and suppliers and basically they all have the same advantages to know:
Difference with PVC flooring
Vinyl is not PVC that should be obvious. PVC floors are hard floors partly because of their underlay (PVC) and vinyl, on the contrary, is a soft floor. This makes vinyl a lot more flexible than PVC, but that's also its downside. Vinyl can be damaged more easily by sliding furniture etc. and because PVC is a lot harder you could also say it is more scratch-resistant. But do you still want some softness on your feet? Then consider looking at vinyl flooring anyway.
Yet there are quite a few similarities with PVC flooring as the 1st top layers of the product are almost the same. A photo print with a top layer on top and, thanks to new techniques, even vinyl floors with a wood look increasingly resemble real wood. Not only because of the colour or print, but also in tactile relief. Vinyl floors are no longer shiny but have a beautiful matt glow.
Processing and price of vinyl flooring
Like carpets, most vinyl floors are supplied at a width of 400 cm. This means that if the room is wider than 400 cm. a 2 strip is needed and there will be a seam. However, remember that a PVC floor consists of only seams i.e. the much smaller strips. We recommend always leaving the laying of a vinyl floor to the expert, as in addition to the right material, the flexibility of the product makes it difficult to cut. Experience is then a must.
Most vinyl floors are laid loose on the subfloor, but in larger rooms and with underfloor heating, the floor must be fully glued. Vinyl has an average thickness of 2 to 2.5 mm and you will understand that a level subfloor is a must. Especially when gluing vinyl floors, levelling the subfloor is more or less compulsory. If the vinyl floor is laid loose, levelling is not always necessary. For example, a newly built floor that has been delivered nice and level can be laid immediately. With an average m2price of € 25.00 - € 30.00, vinyl is a lot cheaper than PVC and can certainly be a great alternative on a second floor!
